The Story Behind Arya

Hi, I’m Alan, and this app has a very special inspiration: my dog, Arya.

Arya is my first dog ever, and from the start, she’s been both my joy and my biggest teacher. Unfortunately, she’s also had her share of serious health problems. And let me tell you something: when you have an elderly, sick dog, it’s hard, but in a way it feels expected. But when you have a young dog that’s sick, it hits completely differently. It’s awful. It’s confusing. And it’s overwhelming.

When Arya was just six months old, she started having seizures. For a long time there was no clear diagnosis, just countless vet visits, worries, and management. Then, as she neared three years old, new blood tests pointed to her liver, but nothing was certain. To make it worse, the vets found cataracts, unrelated, but serious. During the pre-surgery blood tests, another blow came: dangerously low platelets.

One vet bluntly told me, “she might die from this.” That moment was devastating.

After a week of more waiting and stress, the actual cause was finally found: an ehrlichia infection. Somehow, despite no ticks around us, she must have carried it since before I even adopted her. I changed vets, Arya went through two months of heavy antibiotics, and thankfully, her platelets recovered. She went through cataract surgery too, though her eyes turned out too small for lenses. More drops, more meds, more endless treatments…

Through all of this, I went a little mad juggling vet instructions, pills, drops, antibiotics, schedules, and reminders. I was terrified of missing something important, of messing up during the most fragile time in Arya’s life.

And that’s when this app was born.

Arya: Pill Reminder isn’t just an idea or a project. It’s me trying to get a little relief, to have one less thing to worry about. To stop second‑guessing if I’d given the pill, or whether I had enough refills at home, or if I was supposed to put the drops in at 8pm or 10pm.

I built it first for myself, to help me care for Arya. And now, I’m sharing it with you, because if it can bring even a little bit of ease to someone else struggling to manage a pet’s medications, then Arya’s tough journey will have at least sparked something good.

So, this is Arya: Pill Reminder. Made with love, worry, and hope. For Arya, and for every pet out there who means the world to someone.
