Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 18, 2025
Last Updated: September 18, 2025
Introduction
Welcome to Arya: Pill Reminder (“Arya,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). We value your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use our mobile application (the “App”) for tracking pet medications.
Key points:
- No account is required; we do not operate user accounts or profiles.
- Your app data (pets, medications, schedules, photos, settings) is stored locally on your device, not on our servers.
- The App uses local (on-device) notifications only; we do not use push notifications.
- We use third-party services for analytics and in-app purchases management, which receive limited data as described below.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly (stored locally on your device)
- Pet information: name, species, breed, birth date, weight, and photos
- Medication data: names, dosages, schedules, treatment history, and medication photos
- User preferences: sleep schedule, notification settings, theme, language, and other in-app settings
Information Collected Automatically (sent to third parties as applicable)
- Analytics (PostHog): pseudonymous app usage events (e.g., screen views, feature interactions), device and app metadata (device model, OS version, app version), coarse location inferred from IP (e.g., country/region), and timestamps
- Performance and diagnostics: platform crash logs and error diagnostics provided by Apple/Google (may include device and app metadata at the time of a crash)
- Purchases (RevenueCat): anonymized app user identifier, product identifiers, purchase receipts, transaction status (e.g., active subscription, expiration), and platform (App Store/Google Play)
We do not collect precise GPS location, contacts, or calendars.
Local Data Storage
- Your app content is stored locally in an on-device SQLite database within the app’s sandbox.
- We do not run a cloud backup or sync service for your app data.
- Local data is not encrypted by the App. Your device’s OS-level protections (e.g., device encryption, passcode, biometrics) may apply if enabled on your device.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide core functionality: medication scheduling, reminders, dose tracking, history
- Local notifications: schedule and display on-device reminders and refill alerts
- Improve the App: analyze feature usage and performance to fix bugs and enhance usability
- Manage purchases: validate subscriptions, entitlements, and billing status via app stores
- Customer support: respond to inquiries and troubleshoot issues
Permissions We Request
- Notifications: to schedule and display local medication reminders and refill alerts
- Camera: to capture pet and medication photos you choose to add
- Photos/Media Library: to select existing images for pets and medications
- Haptics/Vibration: to provide touch feedback (no data is collected)
You can manage these permissions in your device settings.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under applicable privacy laws (e.g., CPRA). We disclose data only to:
- PostHog (Analytics): receives pseudonymous analytics data and device/app metadata
- RevenueCat (Purchases): receives anonymized app user ID, purchase receipts, product IDs, and transaction metadata to manage entitlements
- Apple/Google (Platform services): receive crash and diagnostics data; app store operators receive purchase information
- Service providers and advisors: only as necessary for security, compliance, auditing, or legal purposes
- Legal and safety: if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security
We do not use push notification services (e.g., APNs/FCM) and do not collect push tokens.
Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK users)
Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we process:
- To perform our contract with you: provide core app features and purchases
- Based on our legitimate interests: basic analytics and diagnostics to maintain and improve the App; you may object to this processing
- To comply with legal obligations: tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements related to purchases
Your Choices and Rights
- Notifications: enable/disable in-app or via device settings
- Analytics: there is currently no in-app opt-out for analytics. If you are in a region where you wish to object to analytics based on legitimate interests, contact us at privacy@aryapillreminder.com. We will honor deletion requests and, where technically feasible, limit further analytics collection for your device or anonymized identifier.
- Access/Correction/Deletion:
- Local data: you can edit or delete items in the App, or uninstall the App to remove local data from your device
- Analytics/purchases: contact us to request access, correction (where applicable), or deletion of data we hold via our processors
- Data portability: we do not currently offer an in-app export; you may request available data we hold via third parties
- California (CPRA): we do not sell or share personal information; you have rights to know, delete, and correct, subject to exceptions
We will respond to rights requests as required by applicable law.
Data Security
- In transit: data sent to third-party services is protected by HTTPS/TLS
- At rest: local app data is not encrypted by the App; it resides in the device’s app sandbox. You can help protect your data by enabling a device passcode/biometrics and system encryption where available, and by keeping your device updated
International Data Transfers
Third-party services we use may process data in countries other than your own (including the United States and the European Union). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Data Retention
- Local app data: remains on your device until you delete it in-app or uninstall the App
- Analytics (PostHog): retained for up to 24 months, then deleted or aggregated
- Purchases (RevenueCat): retained while necessary to manage entitlements, detect fraud, comply with law, and for a reasonable period thereafter
- Support communications: retained as needed to address your request and for up to 24 months, unless a longer period is required by law
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above and provide in-app notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective signifies your acceptance of the updated policy.
